Although there is rightly a great deal of emphasis placed on getting addicted people to face up to their problems and to engage with an addiction treatment service, such support can only really be judged as being successful if the aftercare treatment that goes with it is sufficient.
All too often, a treatment programme alone will only have a short-term level of success with addictive behaviours or substance misuse returning down the line.
Although no one could even claim to have a hundred per cent success rate with addiction treatment, it is by carefully tailoring such support to the individual concerned which will make a real difference. Of course, a key part of this is the aftercare treatment that will go with the programme concerned.
