FAQs

Common Questions We Hear

At Infinity Addiction Solutions, we are asked the same sorts of questions again and again. This is understandable given that so many aspects of addiction are similar. That said, our personalised approach to addiction means that our responses are often highly nuanced depending on the individual involved. Each case is different. However, you can get to know some of the most important aspects of addiction and the treatment pathways available to you by reading our FAQs.

Where can I get help for addiction?

At Infinity Addiction Solutions, we have an extensive network of private professional addiction treatment services all over the UK which will suit all budgets. We don’t charge you for helping you access these services but will help you to identify the best routes forward.

How can I get help for someone I know who is addicted?

We can provide the assistance you need in total confidence. Our approach is to support families and to help you work out strategies that will get the addicted person in yours to engage with the sort of modern treatments available today.

Do interventions work?

Yes they do but not always. Speak to one of our consultants if you are thinking about an intervention so we can guide you with the best approach to take.

Can addiction be reversed?

Anyone who has been addicted can never claim to be totally cured – it may take a lifetime of discipline to stay clear of dependency. However, success in treating addiction is commonplace, especially when you choose the right treatment pathway. This is where our expertise makes such a difference, of course.

Why doesn't Infinity Addiction Solutions charge?

We do not charge addicted people or their families for contacting our advice helpline. Our commercial relationships are with the therapy and treatment providers that we work with, not our clients. So, you won’t be charged a penny for contacting us or for our professional expertise in assessing your circumstances and referring you on to a private service, clinic or professional. Infinity Addiction Solutions do however, offer and provide a wide range of alternative addiction solution services that are chargeable which may be offered to you depending on your circumstances and need. Our advice is fully independent and tailored to your particular requirements.

What Counts As Addiction?

Some people are unsure whether they have an addiction or not. Using a substance, for example, can be under control but heading towards misuse, abuse and, ultimately, dependency. All steps on the path towards dependency count as a form of addiction and help is available at any stage. In the main, addiction counts under the following categories:

Many people think that addiction to substances means developing a dependency on illegal narcotics, such as cocaine, for example. Although it certainly covers such abuse, plenty of legal substances form addictions, too. At Infinity Addiction Solutions, we help people with dependencies on over-the-counter medications and so-called legal highs. If you are consuming something habitually, then it is likely you have a form of substance addiction.

Often referred to as alcoholism, drinking excessively is, in fact, a form of substance abuse. Like nicotine addiction, however, dependency on alcohol tends to be dealt with as a distinct entity from substance abuse because it is a ‘socially acceptable’ form of addiction. Of course, it can be just as devastating as any other form but it tends to be differentiated because of social norms rather than from a medical point of view of addiction models.

Sometimes overlooked, habitual behaviour is another form of addiction. Perhaps you spend an unhealthy amount of time focused on sex or you gamble more than you can afford to lose? If so, then you may have a form of behavioural addiction. Other forms you might want support to overcome include shopping to excess or the inability to control your social media interactions.
